DREAMS COME TRUE...............THEY DO !

Dear Readers,

Monday, 19 December 2011 was the last update from us on this blog. Many might have thought that unlike many other clubs this club too would have lost its identity and thereby cease to exist. No ............. that was not the case. STRIKERS did go off the blog for a while coz the team was working towards achieving their dream of becoming the 2nd division champions and move to 1st division. In 2011-2012 we did come close to realizing our dream but it evaded us. 

On the onset of 2012-2013 season, the team was determined to emerge as the CHAMPION. As we all know that dreams never become reality until we strive to realize it. The team started working rigorously as per the planned strategy. As  the team inched closer to their 1st league game, the management team sensed the need of leadership change and decided to give the responsibility to the younger generation in-spite of a lot of resistance and thus, Gopi and Jagan emerged as the new captain and vice-captain respectively. The decision was bold and futurist. Gradually, we found the team bonding much better under the new leadership. On one hand while the team was bonding well, a few veterans chose to break-off from the team leaving the entire unit in mystification. It was a huge challenge for the rest of the team and for the young leaders.

The team adapted and planned with the available resources. The 1st game of the season took a lil bit of toll on the young bloods and the game slipped away. We were on the back foot right at the start of the season. The team held its nerve and worked on its loop holes in subsequent practice sessions. Then on there was no looking back. STRIKERS kept striking major blows in every game and emerging winners. While Strikers was on a dream run there was another team inching closer in the same fashion setting the stage up for an amazing final. 

Ultimately, the stage gets set for the grand finale on 9-JUNE-2013. STRIKERS VS SPONTANEOUS C C. We won the toss and  elected to bat as ever. Started off brilliantly with an opening stand of 60+ runs and looking good for 200+ in a 25 over format but the mighty batting line up got warped up for 136 runs setting up a dicey target of 137 runs for a 25 over game. Shoulders had just started drooping but a pep talk from the experienced campaigners lifted the spirits. We started bowling as per plan but the opponents too showed great skill and were comfortably placed on 60 for no loss. Just when the game looked to be slipping off the hands, Jagan was unleashed into the attack and the team got its 1st break-through and then-on the team resembled like a pack of lions hunting down a herd of sheep. We got the opponent  packed off for 56 runs and they ended their innings on 116 runs. An exceptional performance from Jagan with a 3 wicket haul, a great supporting spell from Mr. Subramanian, the veteran, exceptional fielding display by the team and a great on field vocal pep-up talk helped us emerge as the B-division CHAMPIONS 2012-2013 and we walk into 1st division with our head held high. We realized our long awaited dream. Today we live this dream cos we dared to dream. 

Thus, 9-JUNE-2013 will go down as a a historical day in the books for STRIKERS and this is just the beginning............STRIKERS is all set to create much more histories.

STRIKERS STRIKES IN STYLE..........................................

After losing the 2nd league game by whiskers Strikers had to strike back and get into the winning strides to reach their goal for the season.18-Dec-2011, was the day when the 3rd league game was scheduled for Strikers. It was a typical winter morning with the sun trying to force its way out thru the dense fog. the stage was set for a perfect game of cricket and the entier team was hoping for the best but was unaware how things will unfold. The opponents won the toss and opted to feild unaware that they will be crushed out of the game during the 1st half itself. Naveen and Spandan started cautiously to built on a 30 runs opening stand but the best was yet to come. Manjunath, the debutant for Strikers, stepped in @ 2nd down and destroyed the opponets by scoring an unbeaten 115 with the captain scoring a nippy 50. A mammoth total of 207 (25 overs) was staring into the opponent's eyes thereby throwing an open challenge to pull off a wining total of 208 but the bowlers had different plans. Amresh, the pick of the bowlers, bowled his best spell 5 for 15 thereby hammering the final nail in the coffin and wraping up the opponents for 80 runs.

This game will go down in Strikers history as one of the most memorable games in T20 format which dispalyed a perfect combo of vicious batting and immaculate bowling.

Let this be just the start for a series of great performances during the season as the team has got miles to go before realizing their dreams.................
